Management emphasized the growing contribution of menu innovation, digital engagement and younger customers to its flagship brand's performance.

CAKE reported adjusted earnings of $1.02 per share, exceeding the Zacks Consensus Estimate of 95 cents. The company reported revenues of $1.03 billion, which surpassed the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 2.98%.

Executives also outlined plans to accelerate Flower Child openings in 2027 while maintaining a measured outlook for comparable sales and margins as the company approaches tougher year-over-year comparisons.

CAKE Outlines Revenue and Margin Targets for 2027

Executive vice president and CFO Matthew Clark projected fiscal 2027 revenues of approximately $4.425 billion, supported by restaurant development and underlying sales growth.

Management expects adjusted net income margins of 6% to 6.1%, consistent with its long-term objective of 25 to 35 basis points of annual margin expansion.

For the fourth quarter of fiscal 2026, Clark forecast revenues of $1.04 billion to $1.05 billion and an adjusted net income margin near 5.8% at the midpoint.

Cheesecake Factory Sees Broad-Based Traffic Growth

Chairman and CEO David Overton emphasized the flagship brand's 15.2% comparable sales growth and annualized unit volumes exceeding $13.9 million.

President David Gordon attributed the improvement primarily to 9.5% traffic growth, alongside 2.4% pricing and 3.3% favorable mix. Traffic outperformed the Black Box casual dining index by 940 basis points.

Gordon highlighted stronger engagement through Cheesecake Rewards, digital marketing and social media. Menu offerings, including Bowls & Bites, are supporting guest frequency, while the brand continues attracting younger customers.

CAKE Accelerates Flower Child Expansion

Overton reaffirmed plans to open as many as 26 restaurants in fiscal 2026 and outlined a target of up to 27 openings in 2027.

Flower Child remains a major expansion priority. Gordon reported comparable sales growth of 11%, with mature restaurant margins reaching 20.2%, an improvement of 280 basis points.

Responding to JPMorgan, Gordon confirmed plans for 11 to 13 Flower Child openings in 2027. Management expects approximately three-quarters of total company openings to occur during the second half.

Cheesecake Factory Addresses North Italia Challenges

North Italia remained a weaker-performing concept, with comparable restaurant sales declining 3% during the quarter.

Gordon outlined initiatives targeting improved traffic, including redesigned menus, more accessible pricing, enhanced happy-hour offerings and increased marketing in selected markets.

Management is also introducing kitchen management technology to improve throughput and operational consistency. These actions are intended to strengthen North Italia's competitiveness and support sustainable growth.

CAKE Highlights Margin Improvement and Cost Discipline

Clark reported adjusted EBITDA growth of 38% to $98.7 million, reflecting stronger restaurant sales and operating leverage.

Food and beverage costs declined 60 basis points as a percentage of revenue, while labor expenses improved 80 basis points. However, higher incentive compensation and electricity costs partially offset operating efficiencies.

During questioning from Baird, Clark clarified that restaurant-level sales flow-through should remain around 20% to 25%, compared with approximately 35% in the second quarter. Management continues prioritizing staffing and hospitality as guest volumes increase.

Cheesecake Factory Discusses Sales Durability

Analysts repeatedly questioned whether unusually strong traffic trends could persist beyond the recent surge in social media engagement.

Responding to William Blair, Clark acknowledged that assessing repeat visits among newer customers remains premature. However, consistent sales trends across four months provided encouraging evidence of sustained demand.

During questioning from Oppenheimer, Clark highlighted continued rewards membership growth and stronger customer engagement. Management views personalized marketing and restaurant execution as important tools for converting new visitors into repeat guests.

CAKE Maintains a Measured Expansion Strategy

Management's overarching message emphasized converting stronger restaurant traffic into sustainable profitability without compromising guest experiences.

Overton reinforced the company's focus on operational execution, menu innovation and disciplined development. Clark maintained conservative planning assumptions for 2027 while acknowledging opportunities to reassess expectations as sales trends evolve.
